The local network icon for ‘disconnected’ state is not distinguishable enough. Recommend a more profound line, ‘x’, or even red/green color to signal an ethernet connection being active or inactive.
Users have a tough time being able to tell us if they see it as ‘disconnected’ when we cannot connect remotely. We do have them hover the mouse over and read us back the message for now.
Talking about OS12, i dont like the networks icons that much too.
If connected to Ethernet, but without direct Internet Access (enterprise environment), its shows the Earth with a diagonal line across it.
Most users would think they have no network connection at all, while it is completely intentional that the client can not connect to the Internet by itself and is managed locally only.
