Similar to req #259/260, please enhance OS CUPS printing functionality. Direct mapping of TCP printing works great, but in an Enterprise enviroment there are shared SMB printers and queues which we can’t map to. (Currently this is only possilble via Citrix policy and where IGEL printing works so well it creates a disjointed solution, especially when attempting to set Default printers as Citrix policy is the last to apply and overwrites IGel.)
Request the ability for an SMB shared printer to be mapped and authenticated to.
This could be accomplished with a basic service account when the Igel endpoint comes up it can authenticate the existence of the printer. Then when a user logs in and authenticates, the printer would re-authenticate with the users credentials.
Another method would be to simply allow an SMB printer object to be mapped after a user logs in, which would forgoe the security risks of a service account on a shared printer, and probably save on the overhead complication of re-authentications.
IGel Team, see case#CS0107438 for further context.
