Currently, mirroring displays on IGEL OS (e.g., when using external monitors) is very cumbersome for end users. The process requires switching to “Custom Configuration” mode and manually dragging displays, which is not practical for inexperienced users.
Problem:
Users must perform complex steps to enable a basic function like duplicate Screen.
The setting is lost after reboot when using the quick settings in the taskbar, causing frustration.
As a result, external monitors are often not used, reducing productivity.
Proposed Solution:
The “Mirror Display” setting is persistant after using the button in the quick settings (even after reboot or monitor reconnect).
Optionally: The Custom Configuration is intuitive to use.
Expected Benefits:
Significantly improved user experience.
Reduced IT support workload.
Increased accptance of IGEL OS in environments with changing monitor setups.
I agree with a good option in the Configuration Profiles. Mirroring is missing there.
But you can use mirroring also in the Multimpe Display Mode: Custom.
Select CUSTOM CONGIGURATION.
Drag one of the screens to the bottom. An option apears where you can select “Mirror with”. Drop it on the monitor where you want to mirror it with.
Apply the settings. They are now saved for this system.
Hope this helps.
Hello, yes, that’s the problem you’re describing. The way it works is too complex for the user to get to the setting. That’s the complicated method I mentioned for saving the setting. That’s why a quick setting would be nice, so it’s not necessary to click on Custom Configuration.
I have a customer that wanted a way to mirror displays via a profile or command, to remove the manual process of setting this in all of his exam rooms. Opened a case for this as well.
Yes, we shouldn’t need to force end-users to have to setup their display to mirror mode. It should be something easily done by administrators via UMS, not on the local IGEL endpoint….
I also require this setting, as in our specific configuration, it does not persist but is instead lost after every system restart. This is a setting that worked without issues in OS 11 but, unfortunately, has not yet been implemented in OS 12. I expect that, as an administrator, I should be able to specify and configure the mirroring of screen content across both monitors via IGEL OS 12 profiles.
