Bandwidth limitations for DPU#499

F

Currently, you can only adjust the bandwidth throttle via SYSTEM -> Update –> Limit bandwidth used for updating. However, this is system-wide bandwidth throttling. We would like a separate bandwidth limitations specifically for Distributed Peer Update/buddy update.

We’d like every device to be master server and peer. If a device fails to obtain the metadata or update packages from the master, it would fallback to download from UMS. We’d like to increase the bandwidth throttle limitations for DPU without changing the bandwidth throttle limitations for UMS.

Example:
Local devices obtaining metadata/update package from local master server/buddy server should have an option for us to set throttle such as: 10MB/s.
Meanwhile, devices falling back and downloading from UMS should have an option for us to set throttle to: 2MB/s. This way, if a device fails to download from the local master server and fallback to UMS, it should download at 2MB/s and not 10MB/s.
