At the moment you have to care about 3 parts to delete a device license:
It would be perfect to create a setting in the ILP to configure a specific time, when the devices will delete automatically. For example after 90 Days without contact to the UMS/ILP. Before deleting the ILP will send an report to the admins, to know, what happend. This would help when out of the field someone is calling and asking “why my thin client spare device, is not working anymore”
That would make sense, yes, until the moment where we have cleaned up this process. IMHO, it would be great to have an additional checkbox in UMS Licensing which does the following:
if checked, you can define a specific period where the Device has to contact (ICG-)UMS (days, months, years?), if no contact happened, inform the user (a couple of times), then, if no actions are taken, delete the local licenses (and / or configuration).
Yes to a license reclaimation process! I agree on having this just be a function or checkbox inside of UMS though, not through the ILP.
We might expect a change with UMS12/OS12, we will keep you posted.
